Città Giardino, the Garden City, is one of the epithets by which Varese is known. The city in the province of the same name owes this title to its many public parks and green spaces, which stand in wonderful contrast to its historical buildings. In Varese, you can rent your BMW motorcycle and then immediately visit the city’s numerous attractions under your own steam. Absolute highlights include a 13th century Romanesque baptistery, and the Basilica of San Vittore, built around 1600. The Palazzo Estense, a Baroque palace from the 18th century, is another example of the city’s impressive architecture, which can be witnessed in many of the elegant city streets.
